'Quader’s remarks expose government'
Staff Reporter:Bangladesh Nationalist Party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday said the remarks made by ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader exposed their evil intention over agreements likely to be signed with India.
Quader in a programme on Thursday said that any agreement including military deal could be linked with India keeping Bangladesh’s interest high and thus no deal would be kept secret.
Quoting Quader Rizvi said that the government used to say about memorandum of realizing earlier, but now was telling about deals.
‘You [the government] had signed 50 secret deals with India in past beside the anti-state transit corridor deal. People in Bangladesh are yet to come to know about the secret deals,’ said Rizvi.
‘We came to know about those deals through newspapers,’ he said, without elaborating.
The senior BNP leader was addressing at a press briefing at the party’s central office at Naya Paltan in the city.
India cherishes its interest on signing defence deal while Bangladesh wants to sign a memorandum of understanding over it, he said.
‘But signing of the memorandum of understanding will also appear to be dangerous as it will compel Bangladesh for linking the deal,’ Rizvi said.
