12 wounded in DU BCL infighting

At least 12 members of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student associate of ruling Awami League, were wounded in infighting between rival groups over occupying seats in Salimullah Muslim Hall on Dhaka University campus Thursday night.

The wounded took primary treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

The clash happened around 11:30pm among the followers of the hall unit BCL president, Tahsan Ahmed Russell, and the unit’s secretary, Mehedi Hasan Tapos, our correspondent reported.

Both the groups locked in clash equipped with local weapons, leaving 12 BCL men injured.


Later, the university proctor, AM Amzad, and senior leaders of Chhatra League rushed the spot and took the situation under control.


Dhaka University unit BCL president Abid al Hasan said organisational steps would be taken against the perpetrators involved in the clash.
