2 Indian soldiers killed in Pakistan firing

Two Indian soldiers were killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district after a ceasefire violation made by Pakistan, India Today reports.

According to sourcees, Indian posts were targeted by Pakistani rocket launchers in an unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control.

The deceased are a junior commissioned officer (JCO) in the Indian Army and a head constable of the BSF.  Another BSF soldier injured in the attack is out of danger.

The site of the ceasefire violation was Krishna Ghati area in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district.

Sources said that both the soldiers were attacked by Pakistani rockets and gunfire while they were guarding the border post along the Line of Control.

The injured soldiers were shifted to a nearby Army unit, where they succumbed to their injuries.

Defence sources said this was the first ceasefire violation by Pakistan after its army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited areas along the Line of Control on Sunday.

According to sources, more than 100 armed terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad are waiting near the Line of Control to infiltrate into India.

Pakistan, said sources, is providing cover to these terrorists by firing at Indian posts so that they can cross the border and enter India through Poonch and Rajouri sectors.
