The much awaited 9th national pay scale meeting of government employees was not held yesterday (December 31). The meeting was adjourned due to the general holiday declared by the government on the death of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
According to the commission sources, the new date of this adjourned meeting will be decided soon and informed to the members.
The interim government has constituted the Ninth National Pay Commission-2025 for government officials-employees headed by former Finance Secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan.
On July 27, the government issued a notification about this. The commission has been asked to submit a report to the government within six months from the date of its first meeting.
According to the commission sources, there are three different opinions among the members of the commission on whether the existing 20 grades will be maintained or reduced in the ninth pay scale.
First Party- Recommend increase in pay and allowances only at reasonable rate keeping the existing 20 grades unchanged.
Second part- proposal to reduce the number of grades from 20 to 16 to reduce the salary disparity.
Third party – Many have suggested making more radical changes to make the number of grades 14 to eliminate discrimination.
An attempt is being made to make a realistic recommendation by reducing the grade as the salary disparity among the lower level employees is evident due to the high number of grades. According to commission sources, the opinions received from various organizations and organizations are currently being ‘analyzed’.
