51 out of 59 registered parties are participating in the elections: EC

The picture of the participation of political parties is becoming clear around the upcoming Thirteenth National Assembly elections. The Election Commission (EC) said that out of a total of 59 political parties registered with them, 51 parties are participating in the elections and have already filed their nomination papers.

On Tuesday (December 30), Director of Public Relations of EC Mo Ruhul Amin Mallick gave this information.

He said, 51 registered politicians are participating in the upcoming thirteenth national parliament election.

It is known that the number of EC registered political parties is 59. The registration of Awami League has been suspended. The registration of PDP, Freedom Party and United Citizen Movement has been cancelled.

A total of 28 political parties participated in the 12th National Assembly elections. A total of 51 political parties participated in the 11th National Parliament elections and 38 political parties participated in the 11th National Parliament elections.

According to the 13th National Assembly election schedule, nomination papers will be selected from December 30 to January 4, 2026. January 5 to January 9 for filing appeals against the decision of the Returning Officer. The appeal will be settled between January 10 and 18. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is January 20. The Returning Officer will release the final candidate list and allot the symbols on January 21. The election campaign will begin on January 22. The campaign can be run until 7:30 am on February 10. And the vote will be taken on February 12.
