Remittance is bringing a message of relief to the country’s economy. In the first five days of current October (October 1 to 5), the country received 513 million, or 51 crore 30 lakh, US dollars in remittances. Of this, 109 million dollars arrived on October 5 alone.
This information has emerged in the updated report of Bangladesh Bank. Data from the central bank indicates that an upward trend in remittance flow has continued since the beginning of the current fiscal year.
According to the report, from October 1 to 5 of the current fiscal year (2026-27), remittance flow increased by 21.4 percent compared to the same period last year. From October 1 to 5, 2025, the country had received 422 million dollars in remittances. This means that, within a year, expatriate income in the first five days of the current year has increased by 91 million dollars.
Meanwhile, from the beginning of the current fiscal year until October 5, a total of 9,104 million, or 9.104 billion, dollars in remittances has arrived in the country. In the same period last fiscal year, it was 8,008 million dollars. Consequently, on a year-on-year basis, remittance flow has seen a growth of 13.7 percent.
Stakeholders believe that this continuous growth in expatriate income will have a positive impact on the country’s foreign currency reserves. Additionally, the increased supply of dollars may accelerate overall economic activities.
