Eighty-one-year-old Asgar Ali Bohra, an old schoolmate of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approached him seeking a resolution to a land dispute that has been ongoing for nearly four decades. Bohra, a resident of Mira Road in Mumbai, has also demanded a CBI investigation into the incident.
According to a report by the Indian media outlet The Wall, Asgar Ali Bohra and Narendra Modi were classmates while studying at BN School in Vadnagar, Gujarat. During his meeting with the Prime Minister, Bohra stated that he has approached various government departments and the police for years to resolve the land dispute. Now, he seeks the Prime Minister’s intervention.
Bohra claims the dispute originated over approximately 2,810 square meters of land in Navghar, Bhayandar East. He asserts that he purchased the property through a registered agreement in 1989. However, he alleges that the land was illegally encroached upon in 2011.
In this regard, he has lodged complaints against two construction companies, ‘Swam Builders’ and ‘Seven Eleven Constructions’. Bohra claims that the land was divided into two parts using forged documents, keeping the original owner in the dark, and subsequently registered in the names of these two companies.
Bohra has also implicated local BJP MLA Narendra Mehta in this incident. He claims that Mehta has connections with ‘Seven Eleven Constructions’.
Bohra filed a case at the police station in 2015 regarding this matter. Despite approaching the police, revenue department, and various municipal offices for several years, he did not find a solution to the problem. The matter is currently sub judice.
However, the report states that local administration has become active on the matter after his meeting with the Prime Minister. A special hearing has been scheduled for September 16, where representatives of ‘Swam Builders’ and ‘Seven Eleven Constructions’ have been instructed to be present.
After decades of legal battle, 81-year-old Asgar Ali Bohra hopes that the land dispute will finally be resolved with the intervention of his old school friend, Modi.
