Bangladesh received $3.425 billion in remittances in the recently concluded month of May. This marks the second highest expatriate income recorded in a single month in the country’s history. On average, $110.5 million in remittances arrived daily during this period.
This information was revealed from the updated report of Bangladesh Bank on Monday (June 1).
The report stated that $3.42503 billion in remittances was received in May. Previously, the highest amount of remittance came in March, when expatriates sent $3.75505 billion to the country.
In the recently concluded month of May, remittances through state-owned banks amounted to $566.49 million. Additionally, specialized banks received $467.15 million, private banks accounted for $2.38674 billion, and foreign sector banks received $4.64 million in remittances.
