Five more children have died with measles symptoms in the country in the last 24 hours (from 8 AM Wednesday to 8 AM Thursday). During the same period, 1,148 people were affected, including those with measles symptoms and suspected cases.
With this, the total number of deaths from measles and measles symptoms in the country has now reached 666. Of these, 573 children died with measles symptoms, and 93 children died from confirmed measles.
These details were provided in the latest report by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.
Of the five children who died in the last 24 hours, two were from the Sylhet division, and one each from the Dhaka, Chattogram, and Khulna divisions.
During the same period, 907 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals. Among them, the highest number, 331, were in the Dhaka division, followed by 175 in Chattogram and 135 in Barishal.
During this time, 815 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from treatment.
Since the first measles patient was identified in the country on March 15, a total of 89,904 people have shown measles symptoms over the past 95 days. Of these, 74,184 were admitted to hospitals, and the total number of confirmed measles cases has reached 10,773. During the same period, 70,503 people have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
