BNP acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has urged the opposition not to threaten street movements but to provide effective advice in the national parliament to resolve the gas and electricity crisis.
He made this call on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected committee of the Bangladesh Dance Artists Association at Shilpakala Academy.
Rizvi stated that the country’s gas and electricity crisis has emerged due to the international war situation and the flawed planning of previous governments. He specifically noted that the current fuel crisis has intensified primarily due to the impact of the America-Iran conflict and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
He mentioned that political parties have the right to protest, demonstrate, and conduct long marches during the tenure of the current democratic government. However, he emphasized that providing advice in the national parliament to resolve the crisis, rather than threatening street movements, would be more effective.
Road and Railway Minister Habibur Rashid was present at the event. He stated that the country should not be limited to infrastructural and economic development alone but should advance through culture, embracing the spirit of July.
