Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed commented that fascist forces will never again be allowed to practice politics on the soil of Bangladesh.
He made these remarks on Saturday (September 26) afternoon at a rally organized by the Dhaka-6 constituency in Dholaikhal field, Dhaka. The rally was held against attempts to destabilize the country through planned terrorism.
The Home Minister stated, “Everyone who has committed genocide, enforced disappearances, and murders in the country will be brought to justice. The perpetrators of the 2024 genocide will be tried at any cost. Those who have committed the most killings since independence will under no circumstances be allowed to participate in politics in this country.”
He added that just as people have shed blood to uphold democracy and resist fascism in the anti-fascist movement, so too must they remain united on the streets.
Regarding Sheikh Hasina, Salahuddin Ahmed said, “The government wants her to be brought back to the country through a repatriation agreement. Upon her return, she will serve her sentence or appeal if there is an opportunity to do so. He also commented that merely making noise would be of no benefit.”
Regarding the fuel price hike, the Home Minister stated that fuel prices have increased several times more in many neighboring countries compared to Bangladesh. Due to oil smuggling across the border and rising prices in the international market, the government was compelled to slightly increase domestic oil prices. He expressed regret to the public for this. The Home Minister also informed that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has repeatedly expressed regret over this matter.
Addressing the opposition’s long march, he said that there is no problem with organizing a long march within seven months of forming the government. However, the people of the country are not with the anti-liberation forces.
