Prime Minister Tarique Rahman commented that all citizens of the country have equal rights regardless of their religious identity. He stated that every citizen’s rights are equal before the state, irrespective of their religion, caste, profession, or ethnic identity. The government aims to build an inclusive and prosperous Bangladesh by bringing everyone together.

The Prime Minister’s statement came to light on Tuesday (October 20) night during his visit to the Durga Puja pandal at JM Sen Hall in Rahmatganj, Chattogram city, and an exchange of greetings with the Hindu community. Earlier on the same day, he visited Puja pandals in Rangpur and Rajshahi.

The Prime Minister’s visit is part of an exchange of greetings with the Hindu community on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja. He was welcomed at Chattogram’s JM Sen Hall by leaders of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad’s metropolitan branch and representatives of the Hindu community.

Accompanying the Prime Minister were several government ministers and BNP leaders, including Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie, and Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury.

Earlier, after inspecting the Puja pandal at Dharmasabha Temple in Rajshahi, the Prime Minister had said that every person born and raised in Bangladesh is a Bangladeshi citizen. He stressed that everyone has equal rights, irrespective of their religion, profession, or ethnic identity. He also urged people of all faiths to work unitedly for the country’s development and to build a desired future.

The Prime Minister stated that the overall development of the country is not possible by leaving any community behind. Therefore, the country must progress with the participation and cooperation of people from all religions.

The metropolitan branch of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad has been organizing Durga Puja at Chattogram’s JM Sen Hall for the past four decades. According to the organizers, this marks the first time a Prime Minister has visited this particular Puja pandal.
