During the polling on the occasion of the 13th National Assembly elections and the referendum, as per the instructions of the Election Commission (EC), the display of referendum related banners has been made mandatory at every polling station. Clear instructions have been given in the EC circular in this regard.
On Thursday (January 9) the circular was issued under the signature of Mohammad Monir Hossain, Deputy Secretary of Election Management-II of the EC Secretariat.
It is mentioned in the circular, as per the instructions of the Election Commission, the banner related to referendum should be displayed in a visible place in every polling station. The banner should clearly mention the July National Charter (Constitutional Reforms) Implementation Order, 2025 and the written proposals related to constitutional reforms contained in the July National Charter.
It further said, the Election Commission has prepared a prescribed sample of referendum banner, which will be provided by the Public Relations Department. Eco-friendly banners as per the sample will be printed locally by Senior District or District Election Officers and delivered to Presiding Officers based at Polling Stations. Presiding Officers shall make necessary arrangements to display at least one banner in a visible place at each polling station.
The circular also informed that the money required for banner printing will be allocated in favor of senior district and district election officers.
Sending the statement of counting of votes directly to the Election Commission by post by the Presiding Officer:
According to the provisions of Clause 15 of Article 36 of the Representation of the People Order, 1972, the Presiding Officer shall send a copy of the counting report of the National Assembly and Referendum to the Election Commission by direct post from the polling station. For this, 2 special envelopes will be provided to each polling station. Required number of printed envelopes will be sent from the Election Commission Secretariat to the Returning Officers.
Special instructions will be issued to the postal department to keep the post offices open 24 hours for the special envelopes to reach the Election Commission Secretariat.
