A Bangladeshi shot dead in Kurigram border

Staff Correspondent: The Indian Border Security Force shot a Bangladesh national dead and injured another at Dharmapur border under Roumari upazila in Kurigram early Friday.

The victim was identified as Tulu Mia, 60, of village Kawar Char, and the injured was Sefat Ali, 35, of village Chat Karaibari in the upazila.

Dantbhanga union parishad member Mizanur Rahman and Border Guard Bangladesh sources said a group of smugglers was smuggling cattle heads near the demarcation pillar number 1056 along the border at Kawar Char village in the early hours on Friday.

At that time, a patrol team of BSF personnel triggered on them leaving Tulu Mia dead on the spot and Sefat bullet-wounded.

Lieutenant Colonel Atikur Rahman, commanding officer of BGB battalion 35 in Jamalpur, said a flag meeting over the matter is scheduled to be held at noon.
