One BGB member fell ill while on duty while patrolling in Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur and died. The name of the deceased BGB member is Mohammad Atiqul Islam (49). He is the son of deceased Muhammad Imam Hossain of Dapunia village of Hossainpur upazila of Kishoreganj district.
According to local and related sources, Mohammad Atiqul Islam, member of Hatipagara BOP of 39 Battalion of Mymensingh BGB, went on duty as part of regular patrolling at Nakugaon Sthalbandar border area of Nalitabari Upazila at around 11 am on Monday (December 29). While on patrol, when they reached 500 meters west of Nakugaon land port area, he suddenly fell seriously ill. At one point, he started bleeding from his nose and mouth. At this time, his colleagues rescued him and quickly took him to Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex.

Meanwhile, when he was taken to the hospital, the doctor on duty in the emergency department, Dr. Humayun Ahmed Noor, declared him dead after conducting an ECG examination around 12 noon.
When asked about this, Nalitabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ashrafuzzaman quoted the BGB, doctors and Surathal reports and said that the deceased BGB member Mohammad Atiqul Islam died naturally. BGB authorities have already taken his body to Mymensingh sector. After all formalities there, his body will be handed over to the family members.
