A Bogra court on Sunday put] three Bogra rape accused on three-day remand. The accused are Bogra town unit Awami Sramik League convener Tufan Sarkar and two of his accomplices in a case filed for raping a student after abduction.
Bogra chief judicial magistrate Shyam Sundar Roy passed the order cancelling bail petitions of Tufan and his accomplices - Ali Azam and Rupam.
Police brought them before the court and sought seven-day remand for each.
Police did not beg remand for another accused Atikur Rahman as he gave confessional statement before magistrate.
The Bogra district unit Awami Sramik League has suspended Tufan amid the rape allegation, said its president Rafiqul Islam and general secretary Shamsuddin Sheikh Helal.
Bogra district administration formed a three-member probe body led by additional deputy magistrate Abdus Samad Pradhan to investigate the incident.
Bogra deputy commissioner Nure Alam Siddique visited the victim at the hospital on Sunday and assured her family of both medical and legal assistance.
Though police earlier had assured of arresting six other accused including ward councilor Marzia Hasan Rumki, none more could be arrested till Sunday. Additional superintendent of police Sanatan Chakrabarty said drives were on to arrest the accused and he hoped that they would be successful soon.
The victim who is now under treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital told New Age that Tufan took her to his house alluring her of arranging admission in Azizul Huq College and then raped her.
He also gave a threat for blasting bombs at her house if she tells anyone of the rape.
