A Khulna court grants the bail of newsman

A Khulna court on Wednesday has granted bail to local journalist Abdul Latif Morol in a case filed under section 57 of the ICT Act over a Facebook post 'demeaning' State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayan Chandra Chanda.

 

Senior Magistrate Nusrat Jabin of the Khulna Cognigance Court (Kha region) passed the order on a bond of Tk 10,000 on Wednesday, reports UNB.

 

Earlier of this incident, Cops in Khulna on Tuesday detained Latif, 40, Dumuria upazila correspondent of local newspaper 'Dainik Probaha', from his residence in Dumuria upazila in case.

 

A local man, Subrata Mazumder, enrolled the case with Dumuria Police Station against him, said officer-in-charge of the police station Sukumar Biswas.

 

According to the case statement, Latif in his Facebook post allegedly criticised the junior minister as some goats distributed by him (minister) among poor people in Dumuria died soon after the distribution.
