AL to accept President’s decision over formation of next EC
Staff Correspondent: Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said his party will accept President Abdul Hamid’s decision over the formation of next EC.
“We have confidence in President Abdul Hamid. Awami League will accept the President’s decision, as per constitution, even if that goes against the party,” he said.
Obaidul Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said this while addressing a programme held at Raniganj High School Ground under Jagannathpur thana in the district.
President Hamid initiated the formal talks with political parties about the EC formation on December 18 last year. He has so far held meetings with 23 political parties including Awami League, BNP and Jatiya Party (JaPa).
He took the dialogue initiative as the tenure of the current Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad-led EC expires next month.
Quader said BNP has become a party of complaints having failed in waging movement.
“The government is carrying out activities for the development of the people. But BNP is resorting to falsehood to hinder the development activities. They are unwilling to accept the development activities of the government,” he added.
Pointing at the party leaders and activists, the AL general secretary said it is not possible to write names in the heart of the people by using power rather it is love through which you can write your name in the people’s heart.
