Arafat Sunny put remand

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court on Sunday granted for one day remand on national cricketer Arafat Sunny as a case was filed by a woman under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.

Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar Hui passed the order when Mohammad Yeahia, sub-inspector of Mohammadpur Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court with five-day remand prayer.

Earlier in the day, police arrested Sunny from Aminbazar area in Savar upazila, in connection with the case.

Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman said a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested the cricketer around 9.00am.

Quoting Jamaluddin Mir, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur police station UNB said that Nasrin Sultana, a friend of Sunny, filed the case against Sunny under the ICT Act on January 5.
