Arrest warrant issued against newly elected mayor Sakku
A comilla court on Today issued an arrest warrant against newly elected mayor of Comilla City Corporation and BNP leader Monirul Haq Sakku in a corruption case filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
Judge Md Qamrul Hossain Molla of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court passed the order.
However, the court released Sakku’s wife Afroza Jasmin as charges brought against her was not proved.
In January 7, 2008, Anti Corruption Commission filed a case against Sakku and his wife for hiding wealth information with Ramna police station.
In February 4, 2016, ACC assistant director Nurul Huda presented the chargesheet in court and appealed for taking off the case from his wife.
