2nd phase of Biswa Ijtema starts Friday
Staff Correspondent: The second phase of Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of the Muslims after the holy Hajj, will begin on the bank of the Turag at Tongi in Gazipur on Friday.
The three-day holy congregation will start after Fazr prayers tomorrow.
The second phase of Ijtema will conclude through Akheri Munajat on Sunday.
Religious scholars from home and abroad will deliver sermons of Islam in the light of the Holy Quran and the Hadith.
In the second phase of Ijtema, Muslim devotees of 17 districts will take part. The districts are Dhaka, Meherpur, Lalmonirhat, Razbari, Dinajpur, Habiganj, Munshiganj, Kishoreganj, Cox’s Bazar, Noakhali, Bagerhat, Chandpur, Pabna, Naogaon, Kushtia, Barguna and Barisal.
The Ijtema venue is getting filled up with local and foreign devotees. Meanwhile, devotees from India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Panama, Egypt, Oman, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iran, Japan, Canada, Cambodia, Mozambique, Russia, the USA, Sweden, Belgium, Italy, Kenya and New Zealand have already arrived the Ijtema ground, organisers said.
There will be tight security for the devotees in and around the Ijtema venue with deployment of a large number of law enforcers, including RAB and police.
RAB members will patrol the venue and adjacent areas with helicopters to monitor the security measures.
The first phase of Ijtema ended on January 15 with Akheri Munajat seeking divine blessings and well-being of the Muslim Ummah.
