‘Kader mastermind of MP Liton’s murder’
Staff Correspondent:Police claim on Wednesday that Former Jatiya Party lawmaker Abdul Kader Khan is the mastermind behind the killing of Awami League MP Manzurul Islam Liton of Gaibandha.
A court in Gaibandha on Wednesday granted former Jatiya Party lawmaker Abdul Quader Khan on 10 days’ remand under police custody in the case of Gaibandha-1 MP Manjurul Islam Liton murder.
Additional chief judicial magistrate Moinul Hasan Yusuf passed the order while the former lawmaker, also a retired colonel, was produced before the court this noon, our correspondent reports.
Earlier today, deputy inspector general of Rangpur Range Khandaker Golam Faruk said Abdul Quader Khan was the mastermind of the murder of Manjurul Islam Liton, reports United News of Bangladesh.
Quader Khan planned to kill Liton to become MP of Gaibandha-1 again, the DIG told reporters at a press conference at Gaibandha police superintendent’s office.
‘Quader killed Liton through hiring hitmen,’ Golam Faruk said.
Detectives held Abdul Quader Khan, former Jatiya Party MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency, from his residence at Rahman Nagar Ziladarpara in Bogra town on Tuesday.
The DIG said that the former lawmaker would be produced before a Gaibandha court today seeking a 10-day remand for interrogation.
Police also kept Rana, another suspected of the gruesome murder case, under surveillance, he said, adding that Rana would be arrested any time soon.
Meanwhile, three accused — Mehdi, Shamim, and Hannan, arrested in connection with the MP Liton murder case — reportedly confessed to the killing before a Gaibandha court on Tuesday.
