Narendra Modi expresses shock at death in landslide
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his sorrow and sadness over the loss of lives in Bangladesh due to landslides and offered to assist the country in local search and rescue efforts.
“Saddened by loss of lives in Bangladesh due to landslides. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased and prayers with the injured,” he tweeted.
Extending India’s solidarity with Bangladesh, the Indian prime minister said, "India stands shoulder to shoulder with Bangladesh.
We stand ready to support local search and rescue efforts if required.”
At least 137 people, including four soldiers, were killed and several hundreds injured as torrential rains triggered massive landslides in three hill districts of southeastern Bangladesh on Tuesday.
