Heavy downpour in the capital
DSCC Mayor Khokon blames WASA for waterlogging
DSCC( Dhaka South City Corporation ) Mayor Sayeed Khokon on blamed Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) and poor drainage system for waterlogging in different parts of the capital.
Mayor Khokon came up with the comments while visiting the waterlogging situation at Dhanmonid 27 in the city on Wednesday afternoon.

He said, “The drainage system fails to accommodate the load of even 100-150 millimetre rain at a stretch. We could have been spared from this problem if prior planning was done in this connection.”

The downpour flooded several key areas of the city, including Dhanmondi, Dhaka University, Azimpur, Farmgate, Green Road, Mirpur, Mouchak, Malibagh, Motijheel and Gulistan.
It also inundated the Secretariat at Abdul Gani Road and front of the parliament on Manik Mia Avenue.
