RAB detains two Rohingyas with cache of firearms in Teknaf
Members of Rapid Action Battalion on Monday night detained two activists of a Rohingya insurgent group along with a cache of firearms at deep forest of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.
The arrestees are identified as Faridul Alam, 37, son of Dalilur Rahman and Shamsul Alam, 22, son of Abul Hasim Majhi. Both are residents of northern Maungdaw of Myanmar but they are now living at Old Pallanpara of Teknaf. They are members of Rohingya insurgent group Al Yakin Mojahideen.
Seventeen invalid firearms including pistols and a locally made gun and 442 rounds of bullets were rescued in the drive.
Major Mohammad Ruhul Amin, commanding officer, RAB-7, Cox’s Bazar told reporters that the arrested two Rohingyas are fellows of trance-border robber Abdul Hakim. Abdul Hakim is a listed criminal.
