Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad, Nurul Islam Moni, commented that reckless rickshaw movement in the capital Dhaka has reached an extreme level. He claimed that terrorists of the defunct Awami League government, whose activities are banned, have now appeared as rickshaw pullers.

He made these remarks on Friday (October 9) morning while speaking at the eighth national conference of the Bangladesh Thyroid Society at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital.

The Chief Whip stated that reckless auto-rickshaw movement in the capital is going out of control. He also hinted that if the government takes a decision on this matter, necessary measures could be taken.

Nurul Islam Moni criticized the statements of leaders of a political party that secured six seats in the national parliamentary elections, saying that despite winning a small number of seats, they are threatening to overthrow the government and making obscene remarks. He commented that such statements and political obscenity should be avoided.

The Chief Whip also criticized the opposition’s long march program just five or six months after the government was formed. He stated that such a program aimed at overthrowing the government at this time is a reckless decision.

Regarding the crisis in the country’s economy and democracy, Nurul Islam Moni said that every time the country faced a crisis, its economy and democracy stood on the verge of destruction. He claimed that the BNP has rescued the country from those crises every time. The Chief Whip also commented that the current government has set a unique example in establishing good governance across the country.

Blaming the policies of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government for the electricity and gas crisis, he said the current government is making every effort to tackle this crisis.

Regarding the health sector, Nurul Islam Moni said that the government is giving more importance to the development of this sector than ever before, and the budget allocation for health has been doubled. Claiming that measles vaccinations were not given for the past two years, he said the current government is paying the price for it.

Furthermore, the Chief Whip noted that for the past 17 years, people did not dare to speak on the phone out of fear, saying that currently, people can speak without fear.
