Staff Correspondent:Law Minister Anisul Haque said on Tuesday said, Bangladesh has no scope to sue the World Bank for stopping financing to the Padma bridge project as per the relevant agreement.
Those who were victims in the issue can take legal advice in this connection, the minister said while addressing a Meet The Press programme organised by Law Reporters Forum at Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium.
He came up with the remark five days after media reported that a Canadian court acquitted three former top executives of SNC-Lavalin in an international bribery case linked to Padma bridge construction in Bangladesh.
Replying to a query from reporters, the minister said a conspiracy was hatched for closing financing to the project and Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus was involved in it.
He said the government, however, will not take legal steps against Yunus. Everything should not be brought to the law, he added.
