BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is no more (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Raziun). He breathed his last at 6 am on Tuesday (December 30).

This information was given in a post on the Facebook page of BNP Media Cell.

Earlier last night, Khaleda Zia’s personal doctor Dr. Zahid said, time will tell how much Khaleda Zia will overcome that crisis. Tariq Rahman along with his family members were all present in the hospital. His medical board members are constantly monitoring those who stay.

Before that, family members including son Tariq Rahman came out of Evercare Hospital around 2 pm on Tuesday. Meanwhile, her elder sister Selina Islam, younger brother Shamim Eskander, Tariq Rahman’s daughter Jaima Rahman, Arafat Rahman Koko’s daughter Zahia Rahman went to the hospital to see Khaleda Zia.

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is the first woman Prime Minister of Bangladesh. He was born on August 15, 1945 in Dinajpur. After the death of her husband Shahid President Ziaur Rahman, she became active in politics in 1981 and was elected Chairperson of BNP in 1984.

Khaleda Zia was the prime minister three times. He served as Prime Minister from 1991 to 1996, briefly in February 1996, and from 2001 to 2006. His role in the movement against military rule and the development of multi-party politics is significant.

Since 2007, he has faced various corruption cases. In 2018, Zia was convicted and imprisoned in the Orphanage Trust case. Later he was under special treatment due to serious illness.
