BNF to join polls to uphold country’s constitution
Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF) President SM Abul Kalam Azad today expressed his optimism about participating in the upcoming 12th general elections to uphold the dignity of the constitution.
“Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF) is pledging to participate in the upcoming 12th general elections to uphold the constitution of the country,” he said.
He made the pledge after participating in a dialogue with the Election Commission (EC) over the upcoming general elections at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city’s Agargaon area.
On behalf of his party, Azad also hoped that the EC will play a strong role in fulfilling its duties as a constitutional institution.
In this regard, BNF is ready to provide full cooperation to EC, he added.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal presided over the dialogue while other Election Commissioners, EC Secretariat’s secretary, and senior officials were present.
The Election Commission (EC) has initiated a series of dialogues with political parties today.
On the first day, the EC sat with Jatiyatabadi Ganitantrik Andolan, Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF), and Bangladesh Congress separately.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Congress, a political party in the country, has proposed to complete all activities related to making voter lists at the union level.
The leaders of the Bangladesh Congress presented this proposal after participating in the dialogue with the Election Commission (EC) regarding the upcoming general elections.
The national voter list should be updated according to the information provided from the Union level, they added.
Bangladesh Muslim League (BML) did not take part in the dialogue with EC today.
On July 18 (tomorrow), the dialogue will be held with Bangladesh Islami Front from 10.30 am to 11.30 am Bangladesh Sangskritik Mukti Jote from 12 noon to 1 pm, Khelafat Majlish from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm, Biplobi Workers Party, Bangladesh from 4 pm to 5 pm.
