BNP to bring proposal on election-time govt

Staff Correspondent:Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said the party would bring proposal on election-time government during national elections.

The party will ask the government to take steps for discussion on the issue, he said.

The BNP secretary general organized a press conference at the party central office at Nayapaltan in Dhaka.

When asked if the party will call upon president Abdul Hamid to take initiative over the matter, he said the president already has committed misdeeds (through reconstitution of the Election Commission led by chief election commissioner KM Nurul Huda).

We will place our proposal to the prime minister (over the election-time government) to come to discussion, else, she has to shoulder the responsibility, he said.

When asked, if the BNP will go to polls under the newly made Election Commission, Fakhrul said, We have already expressed opinion on the chief election commissioner. He is not appropriate for the job.

The national elections are still a matter of time, and the partys possibility to contest polls the new EC is still a matter of future, he said.

But the party is taking part in local government elections and will do, Fakhrul added.
