An elderly woman was killed and two others including a child wounded as a fire broke out at the third floor of a 12- storey residential building in capital�s Dhanmondi area, fire service officials and doctors said. �The three were rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared the elderly woman dead,� Dhaka Medical College ospital�s (DMCH) police outpost in-charge Bacchu Mian told a BSS correspondent.
According to the doctors at the facility the 65-year old woman died inhaling smoke while the blaze damaged the entire floor of the apartment complex. Bacchu Mian said the 12-year-old girl child, a domestic help, were released after first aid but the other woman was still being treated at the DMCH burn unit.
Fire officials said the blaze erupted around 9:25 am they primarily suspected that some electrical malfunction or a gas burner might have caused the blaze at House No 55A on road No 6A. They said three firefighting units reached the scene immediately and doused the fire completely at around 11 am.
