Staff Correspondent: An official of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) was caught red-handed this afternoon while taking bribe at Circular Road in Dhaka.
A 10-member team of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), led by its Dhaka divisional director Nasim Anwar, held Tofazzal Hossain Zomaddar, deputy taxation officer of DSCC, around 5:00pm, according to an ACC press release.
After imposing additional tax on the house of one Mostofa Mohammad Ali in Dhaka, Tofazzal claimed to have Tk 50,000 as bribe to reduce the amount of tax, alleged Mostofa.
Acting on tip-off, the anti-graft body members detained Tofazzal red-handed when he went to receive Tk 20,000 of the bribe money from Mostofa's house in Kalagaban.
Moreover, Tk 1.2 lakh was rescued from the possession of the DSCC official.
ACC lodged a case with Kalabagan Police Station in this connection, the release also said.
