Freedom fighter Major Ziauddin no more

Retired Army Major Ziauddin Ahmed, a sub-sector commander during Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971, died on Friday.

 

He breathed his last at Singapore General Hospital on Friday, his elder son Zakir Uddin has confirmed.

Ziauddin, who was a witness in Bangabandhu killing case, had been suffering for long days from liver disease. He was admitted at Square Hospital in the capital in a critical condition on July 1.

 

He was transferred to Singapore General hospital on July 12.

 

Ziauddin was the Sundarbans sub-sector commander under the Sector 2 during the Liberation War.

 

Major Ziauddin was born at Parerhat village in Pirojpur. Moreover, he was also a writer and a journalist.
