Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said her government was committed to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including SDG3 on “Good Health and Well-being” confronting all challenges steaming from the Covid-19 pandemic, Ukraine war and climate crisis.

“We are committed to executing the SDGs that included SDG3 despite the challenges arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic, Ukraine war and climate crisis,” she said.

The premier made the remarks as Chair of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) Helen Clark paid a courtesy call on her at the Bilateral Booth in the United Nations Headquarters here on Wednesday.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen later briefed the media about the prime minister’s daily engagements on the sidelines of the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

According to Momen, Sheikh Hasina said her government has been implementing the National Health Sector Strategic Plan (2011-2030) alongside increasing allocation by 27 percent in the health sector in the current FY 2023-24 as per her government pledges to reach healthcare services to every person.

During the meeting, Helen Clark praised the overall development in the health sector under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“Bangladesh has set a rare instance in reducing mother and child mortality rate by ensuring healthcare services for all,” she said.

Thematic Ambassador of Climate Vulnerable Forum Saima Wazed and Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen were present, among others, at the meeting.
