India’s opposition political alliance, INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance), has announced a major protest program in Delhi next Monday. The demonstration aims to protect the people’s right to vote and ensure transparency in the electoral process.

On Saturday (October 10), AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal made this announcement while addressing journalists in Alappuzha, Kerala. He stated that leaders of the alliance recently met with the President to convey their concerns regarding the issue. They also plan to meet with the Chief Justice of India on Monday.

Venugopal alleged that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are attempting to shield Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He claimed that measures such as closing metro stations are being implemented to counter the opposition’s protests.

He declared that the movement by the Congress and the INDIA alliance would continue until the electoral process and system are free and fair. He also highlighted controversies surrounding the special intensive revision (SIR) of voter lists and the use of the BJP’s election symbol, the lotus, in official Election Commission letters.

Meanwhile, Venugopal criticized the central government and the BJP for not approving the establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Kerala. He mentioned that after raising the issue in Parliament in 2015, the then Union Health Minister had assured approval for an AIIMS in Kerala the following year. However, he alleged that this promise has not been fulfilled.

Venugopal expressed hope that if the BJP government fails to approve the establishment of AIIMS in Kerala within the next two years, the INDIA alliance would be able to implement this initiative should they come to power.
