‘Bangladesh is a country of 92 per cent Muslim population. Here any idol in country’s highest court premises is not acceptable,’ said Junaid Al Habib, a joint secretary general of Hefazat central committee told bd24live.com.

‘If the idol is not withdrawn without delay, we will declare tougher programme in future,’ Azizul Islam, a leader of the group, said in a similar protest held in Chittagong.

The statue of Themis, the Greek Goddess of Justice holding a scale and a sword, was erected on the Supreme Court premises in December.
