Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has issued a stern warning to eradicate criminals in the Mohammadpur area of the capital at any cost. He stated that Mohammadpur will be brought under complete control.

He delivered this message while speaking to journalists on Saturday (June 20) afternoon, following a ceremony at the Secretariat where police members were awarded for their special contributions to maintaining law and order.

Regarding the crime situation in Mohammadpur, the Home Minister said, ‘The Mohammadpur area has been a haven for criminals for many years. This Mohammadpur will also be brought under control swiftly. Criminals here will be eradicated at any cost.’

Salahuddin Ahmed further stated that the current government is working with much greater speed and determination than any previous government, adding, ‘This has already become apparent to everyone.’

Claiming that former IGP Benazir Ahmed’s arrest in Dubai was possible due to specific and stringent initiatives taken through Interpol, the Home Minister said, ‘All necessary documents, including the cases against him, have been sent to that country. I hope the government of that country will quickly complete all legal procedures and return him to Bangladesh.’

He added, ‘At one point, a general perception had developed among people that the police force had become inactive. But today, the police have regained that glory and activism.’ The Home Minister also stated that since the elected government came to power, police members have been performing their duties so diligently that they are being awarded today in recognition of their commendable work.
