The National Citizen Party (NCP) will contest in 30 seats in the upcoming 13th National Assembly Elections, said Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, the party’s spokesperson and Chairman of the Election Management Committee. He said this in an interview given to the media on Monday (January 12) evening.
He said, NCP will conduct elections in 30 seats as part of the 11-party electoral alliance. All the leaders and workers of the party have agreed on this decision considering the people and larger interests of the country.
Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan also said that this alliance is essentially a reformist unity against hegemony. The alliance was made possible by the NCP making significant concessions, along with the cooperative attitude of other parties. He expressed optimism and said, Inshallah this alliance will form the government in this election.
Regarding the resignation, he said that those who have submitted their resignations are important assets of the party. Their resignations have not yet been accepted and there is still an opportunity to work together in the future.
This is not an ideological alliance, it is a strategic alliance, NCP spokesperson and election management committee chairman Asif Mahmud said.
He said, besides campaigning for the ‘yes’ vote in the referendum through representatives in 270 constituencies where NCP has no candidate, the NCP will work as a grassroots candidate for the referendum.
