If need, govt will send Siddiqur abroad for treatment

Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday said if need government would send Titumir College student Siddiqur Rahman, who suffered grievous injuries in the eyes in police action on a demonstration at Shahbagh, abroad if needed.

Siddiqur sensitive wounds in his eyes in a police attack on the protest rally at Shahbagh in the capital on Thursday on July 20.

‘Siddiqur is given highest treatments in the hospital and if needed he would be send abroad for better treatments,’ Obaidul Quader, also the road transport and bridge minister,  told reporters after visiting him.

The minister said he and health minister Mohammad Nasim would bear the responsibility of Siddiqur’s treatment.

 Students of the seven colleges associated with Dhaka University held a big protest demanding dates for the outstanding examinations.

 Quader visited National Ophthalmology Hospital at Agargaon, in the capital where Siddiqur was admitted with serous would in the eyes.

The doctors of the hospital predict that Siddiqur may lose his vision.

Bangladesh Chhatra League general secretary SM Zakir Hossain and some others student leaders were present with Quader.
