Jagannath University Central Student Council (JAKSU) and Hall Council elections have been postponed.
December 30 (Tuesday) University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mo Rezaul Karim gave this information after the syndicate meeting. Meanwhile, the students of Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (Jaksu) are protesting against the postponement of the elections. They started the protest on Tuesday (December 30) after 9 am. Meanwhile, the students said, “Jaksu is my right, students’ rights. Rais na jaksu? Jaksu jaksu. Address of brokers, will not be in this campus.” With different slogans.
Previously, in an emergency syndicate meeting, it was decided to postpone the Jaksu election. Md. Rezaul Karim. It is to be noted that although there was an instruction to start polling at 8:30 am, the syndicate meeting of the university was called after the death of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. At this time, the administration informed that the decision will be subject to the decision of the syndicate.
Jaksu election was supposed to start at 8:30 am today. However, due to the death of former three-time prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia, the job administration called an urgent online syndicate meeting. After that, the job administration decided to postpone the Jaksu election in the syndicate meeting. In 2005, Jagannath University was converted from a college to a full-fledged university. But since there is no clause related to the student council in the ‘Jagannath University Act-2005’, there has been no Jaksu election after its establishment.
Students of the university have demanded elections many times, but they could not be held due to ‘legal complications’. In the face of the continuous movement of students, Jaksu policy was formulated on October 28. The details of Jaksu election were announced on December 5. Initially, 22 December was fixed for the polling, but due to the closure of the campus due to the earthquake, it was delayed by 8 days to 30 December.
