Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s nominated parliamentary candidate Maulana Abu Talib is in a relatively advantageous position in the electoral field in Jhenaidah-4 constituency. As a senior politician and an honest person, his acceptance in the area has been for a long time. Yesterday Sunday afternoon, he officially submitted his nomination papers.

According to local political sources, there is intense frustration among the party’s leaders and supporters as several leaders have been denied nominations in BNP. Taking advantage of this situation, Jamaat-e-Islami has strengthened its organizational activities at the field level as per the central instructions. They are reaching voters directly with party messages. Political observers believe that a large part of the floating voters are leaning towards the Jamaat day by day.

Meanwhile, on Monday morning, joint convener of BNP’s central volunteer party Saiful Islam Feroz and BNP leader Murshida Khatun submitted their nomination papers as independent candidates. At the same time, the candidate of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Mufti Abdul Jalil has submitted the nomination paper with the hatpakha symbol.

Also, Obaidul Haque Russell and Mir Aminul Islam have submitted their nomination papers as independent candidates. Khania Khanam has submitted nomination papers from public forum and Emdadul Islam Bachchu has nominated as Jatiya Party candidate.

On the other hand, Rashed Khan submitted his nomination papers as BNP’s nominee on the same day afternoon. Independent candidate Obaidul Haque Russell’s family has long been associated with BNP politics, but many people locally think that he may be able to attract the votes of a section of Awami League.

After the announcement of the election schedule, the candidates in Jhenaidah-4 seat have added a new dimension to political calculations.
