Journos demanding justice for Sagor-Runi

Staff Correspondent:Journalists in Dhaka today threatened to go for a road blockade programme on March 11 demanding punishment of the killers of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.

“We will block a road in front of the Jatiya Press Club on March 11 if proper action is not taken in the killing case within the deadline,” Sohel Haider Chowdhury, general secretary of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) said.

He declared it when newsmen from different media houses under the banner of DUJ were holding a protest rally at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital.

The journalists also demanded action against the law enforcers for not tracing out the killers even after five years of the gruesome killings.

Sagar, a news editor at the private TV channel Maasranga, and his wife Runi, a senior reporter for ATN Bangla, were brutally killed in their West Rajabazar flat in the capital on February 11, 2012.
