18 Apr, 2017 18:44:00

Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday asked the government to build a field for a widespread election by taking off false cases against their party leaders and activists including chairperson Khaleda Zia.

He also urged to release the party leaders and activists who remained behind the prisons and jails.

Fakhrul came up with the statements at a news conference at BNP central office at Nayapaltan in the city.

He said the government has now freshly started to send the party leaders and activists to jail reviving the old cases against them.

He said ‘It has become the routine work of the government to arrest active leaders and activists.’

In the meantime, Fakhrul alleged that government’s relief operation in flood affected haor areas is inadequate.

Fakhrul urged the government to announce recent flash flood affected haor areas as disaster areas immediately and deliver relief goods among the real victims till next crop harvesting.
