BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday alleged that leaders and activists of ruling Awami League were ‘looting away’ relief of flood-affected people.

Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news briefing at the party’s central office said flood situation in a good number of districts has seriously deteriorated due to on rush of upstream water from India and heavy rain.

Particularly people of seriously 13 flood-hit districts including Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Bogra, Sirajganj, Pabna, Jamalpur, Sylhet and Moulvibazar have been passing critical life due to lack of food and pure drinking water.

He said flood affected people of these districts were crying for relief.

Rizvi alleged that one or two ministers went to the flood hit areas and returned Dhaka by doing ‘photo session’.

Although local administration appeared with few reliefs, the BNP leader alleged, ‘leaders and activists of Awami League were looting away that’.

Flood affected people did not get relief, he said.

He said the government did not stand beside flood victims saying MPs and ministers were passing comfort life in Dhaka.

Referring to prime minister and food minister's recent statements regarding price hike of rice, Rizvi said price of rice did not decrease rather had increased.

He said the government had ‘failed’ to control the price of rice. Its price in the domestic market had crossed all previous records, he claimed.

Referring to a newspaper report published on Friday, Rizvi said 3,546 Bangladeshi set second home in Malaysia laundering money from Bangladesh.

He said common people easily understood who built up second home in Malaysia.
