Muhith at press conference
Wage board for journalists is not necessary
Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Tuesday said the proposed wage board for the newspaper houses and media is not necessary as the wages of journalists are higher than the salaries the public servants.
He also reproached the existence of too many newspapers and television channels while taking to reporters after a meeting with Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh at the secretariat.
Muhith made the remark when journalists of the print media have been claiming for the ninth wage board.
Information minister Hasanul Haq Inu, NOAB president Matiur Rahman and its members AK Azad and Mahfuz Anam among others attended the meeting.
