Forthcoming two-match Test series
We should not depend only on the spinners: Shakib
Bangladesh all-rounder Sakib al Hasan said on Thursday that we should not depend only on the spinners. There will be a time when a pacer will need to break a crucial stand. It is more effective than a five-wicket haul for a spinner. Apart from that, the role of the batsmen will be very important to win a Test match
Shakib also said that he was looking forward to achieving a clean sweep result against Australia in the forthcoming two-match Test series, scheduled to start from August 27.
Sakib was yet to play a Test against the Aussies, who were last engaged in series against Tigers in 2006, but Sakib claimed a much-improved Bangladesh have all the ingredients in their hands to uphold a 2-0 win.
‘I don’t know why it can’t be possible. I expect to win both the matches,’ said Sakib.
‘We need to do well in all aspects if we want to win the Tests. Whatever the strengths they have, Australia are always tough oppositions. They can adapt to any conditions very quickly. None can do this better than the Aussies,’ said the 30-year old all-rounder.
But Sakib reckoned Bangladesh have better spinners, at least in this condition, which can make difference between the two teams in the series.
Three Bangladeshi spinners – Sakib, Mehedi Hasan and Taiijul Islam – claimed all 20 wickets when Bangladesh beat England by 108 runs in their in their last home series.
