MP Golam Mostafa laid to rest

Golam Mostafa, MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency who passed away at a hospital in the capital after suffering injuries in a road accident, was laid to eternal rest here on Tuesday evening. 

He was buried at his family graveyard at Chandipur village in Sundarganj upazila after Maghrib prayers following his third namaz-e-janaza. 

Earlier, his fist janaza was held at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad in the capital in the afternoon while the second one in the district town.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Military Secretary Major General Sarowar Hossain on behalf of the President Abdul Hamid, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Chief Whip ASM Firoz, Jatiya Party leader Raushon Ershad placed floral wreaths at the coffin of Golam Mostafa at the Sangsad Plaza.UNB.

Golam Mostafa who was injured seriously in a road accident on November 18 breathed his last around 8 am at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

Golam Mostafa, along with his two associates, was travelling to Dhaka in a microbus. When the vehicle reached Natiapara in Delduar upazila of Tangail on Dhaka-Tangail Highway, it collided with a North Bengal-bound bus, leaving the MP and his two associates -- Shahjahan and Manjur - injured.

The injured were first taken to Mirzapur Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Tangail General Hospital.

As his condition deteriorated, the MP was sent to the CMH in Dhaka where he succumbed to his injuries.

Golam Mostafa was elected MP on March 22 this year after death of former MP Manzurul Islam Liton.
