Staff Correspondent:Unknown assailants shot Gaibandha-1 Awami League MP Manzurul Islam Liton at his village home in Sundarganjupazilaof the district ofGaibandha onSaturday afternoon.
Hit by two bullets in the chest,Litonwas taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, said police super of the district Ashraful Islam.
He said two unidentified men entered Liton�s house at Bamandanga village in the upazila around 6pm, saying they wanted to meet him.
As the unsuspecting MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency came to the guestroom to see them, the gunmen opened fire on him.
Liton hit headlines after shooting a minor boy, Sourav, 8, son of Sazu Miah of Gopalcharan village in the upazila, on October 2 last year.
