The Prime Minister of Nepal, Balendra Shah, has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Tareque Rahman for expressing sympathy following the sudden flood in Nepal on August 26, for providing USD 1 million in aid and humanitarian assistance, and for the adoption of a condolence motion in the Bangladesh National Parliament.
This gratitude was conveyed to Prime Minister Tareque Rahman in a letter signed by Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
In the letter, Balendra Shah stated that he is sincerely grateful for Prime Minister Tareque Rahman’s sympathetic message after the sudden flood that struck Nepal on August 26, 2026. The devastating flood caused significant loss of life, damage to homes, infrastructure, and people’s livelihoods, resulting in a deep and lasting impact on the country’s people and various communities.
Balendra Shah further expressed profound gratitude for Bangladesh’s generous contribution of USD 1 million to support the ongoing relief and humanitarian assistance efforts during this period of profound sorrow. He expressed hope that Bangladesh’s assistance would play a crucial role in helping the people of Nepal overcome this tragic situation and rebuild their lives.
The Nepalese Prime Minister also mentioned the adoption of a condolence motion in the Bangladesh National Parliament in his letter. He stated that this heartfelt initiative is a clear demonstration of the sincere sympathy and solidarity of the people of Bangladesh with the people of Nepal.
Balendra Shah added in the letter that Nepal considers Bangladesh not just a close neighbor but also a dear friend bound by strong people-to-people ties.
Emphasizing that Bangladesh’s sympathy and cooperation during times of adversity have deeply touched them, the Nepalese Prime Minister stated that this support and solidarity from Bangladesh will forever be cherished in the hearts of the people of Nepal.
