Non-fiction Book Fair begins at DU
A three-day ‘Non-fiction Book Fair’ began on Tuesday on the premises of the faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof MD.Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the fair in the morning while editor of the BanikBartaDewanHanif Mahmud and dean of the Business Studies faculty ShibliRubayatUl Islam, among others, was present in the opening Ceremony.
The fair was jointly organised by Daily Bonik Bartaand faculty of Business Studies for the third time in collaboration with Janata Bank, Sonali Bank and First Security Islami Bank.UNB.
After inauguration of the fair, VC Akhtaruzzaman said, “The universities have to play a vital role for the development of the society and state alongside educational activities.
Today's book fair is such type of arrangement. I think the main objective of this fair is to popularisethe non-fiction books among teachers and students.”
“Once, the book was the best companion of the students. And it was a symbol of cultural heritage and dignity. Now, the mobile and the tab have taken place these important things. But we have to go back to the roots to bring back our rich culture,” he opined.
A total of 23 publishers and research organisations are participating in the fair.
The fair will remain open for all from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm every day till November 30.
